Inspection and Process Toolbox

Trading in used equipment usually starts by experienced personell ticking off checkboxes on a checksheet. Similary when conducting quality or Lean audits, paper documents are completed and then archived, resulting in hard to oversee statistical evaluation and deviating standards between users.

ServOS is now enabling a number of companies to create audits and checklists without any software development expertise, by using our drag-and-drop audit creator and pushing tasks to operators on their field app

Current use cases include used machinery appraisals, rental machine management, shopfloor audits and even spare parts purchasing and remote service support

Grimme Machinery Client Portal

With myGRIMME one of the first projects around the GRIMME digital customer journey has been launched: A digital assistant portal for GRIMME customers.

The portal allows the users to monitor their machinery in real-time through an installed telemetry unit on the machinery. The unit provides the current location as well as detailed information on machinery settings and performance.

Optimised for mobile device usage, the portal enhances the access throughout all devices, responding to an increasing demand for mobile access and multiple user scenarios, ranging from an office scenario to on-field usage.

Providing bundled information on manuals and spare parts, myGRIMME is a one point access which provides all crucial information including connectivity features on the machinery.

Building upon the users‘ needs as well as responding to the market requests, the next steps of the GRIMME digital customer journey are laid out: a fully fledged product advisor and machinery configurator.

Next Generation Robotic Harvester launched

The new version of harvey.one, our semi-autonomous root crop harvester, is now available on the market.

The machine now relies on vision-based row following as well as a stereo-camera controlled soil and pace monitor.

From a structural perspective, several mechanical components as well as overall dimensions have been improved, so the machine can now also be easily fitted on a trailer for more affordable transportation, thus enabling new business models such as renting

Robotic Farming Systems

Imagine this scenario for the future – labor shortages will turn the recruitment of service personell into a real challenge. The increasing share of electronics, sensors and software will make „debugging“ your machine much more cumbersome than in the past and you have to call your dealer, who might just has to call your OEM in return. Downtime is the consequence.

Moving a spare machine up to your region will take time and its costly, road transportation for a 20-ton harvester goes into 100+ € range. Thats why short term renting wasn’t an option before either.

What if you could simply split your risk, by, lets say, having four small harvesters instead of one large one? You could move one harvester around for less than 200€ of logistical costs and if something breaks down, you still have 75% of your capacity remaining.

Of course a fleet of small harvesters, even if they are unmanned, will pose new challenges like field logistics or two-stage sorting and harvesting. We believe, the bottom line effect is still sizable and its worth to investigate this kind of future – let’s talk to reimagine farming together!

Digital Scenario Consultant

Technical Consultation for new product purchases is usually done through a visit of your sales rep or dealer. These meetings can now be supplemented with our scenario consultant!

Your trusted product expert can show you how different machine models will perform on your farm and what effect this will have on the bottom line.

For Grimme Group, we implemented this concept as „Farm Analyzer“ – specific to the needs of beet crop farming.

Sweet Potato Farming in Düsseldorf

In order to test our machine development accordingly, it was clear to us that we wanted to work with our own test field. Not only for the harvest results themselves, but also to get to know and understand the entire cultivation process.

Fortunately, through a contact we can use an experimental field in Meerbusch, near Düsseldorf. At the beginning of the cultivation period (mid-May), we cultivated 18 rows of 100 metres each here. The cultivation in mulch foil and in dams is complex, but from our perspective it was clearly worth it. For a good comparison, we cultivated root crops such as carrots, parsnips and onions without mulch foil, which made weed growth much stronger and difficult to control with our resources. The use of mulch film makes setting the cuttings and irrigation more complex, but this was nevertheless easy for us to implement and is in good proportion to other maintenance requirements.

360° Machinery Trading

When buying used machinery online, there usually is a big trust trust gap between buyers and sellers due to lack of transparency on the machine record.

Incomplete information about the equipment configuration, poor images and suspicious contact details will require buyers to inspect more machines on-site than their time allows. Remote purchases become impossible.

We solve this problem by providing a new level of information and insight to agricultural machinery trading. Our marketplace fetches machine configurations from our database, so no more question marks about the configuration remain.

Numerous dealers are integrated so you receive more choice than on individual portals alone.

Furthermore, selected machines have a 360° degree snapshot taken, allowing you to travel around the machine to learn about all highlights without having to travel there first.

SCRUM at Schmiede.one

Building new pieces of software every day, our different product development teams require a solid system for visual management to keep track of the tasks at hand and delegate work.

Since working with typical scrum tools such as storypoint-estimates, kanban-boards and daily standups, we defined our own core methods to cater to our unique circumstances.

We have teams working with visual management boards and dev-teams that focus on jira. However, daily standups to discuss tasks are a standard, just as much as retrospectives and backlog generation.

We chose not to dub it „scrum“ internally, since it turned into its very own version over time. Just like any management practices, its subject to continuous improvement – ultimately making us better at building new innovations faster.
